Olivia's First Haircut

On the last day of Mother's Day Out (aka "school"), I took both girls to get their hair cut.  It was Olivia's first haircut.  She did great, but I'm pretty sure she cared more about her lollipop than the haircut.  Naomi was having pictures taken at ballet later that day so I asked the gal if she could put her hair up in a bun for me when she was done.  It turned out great.  Both girls had a great time!   (Tip for those of you with toddler girls - Sweet N' Sassy at Firewheel has a Tuesday Toddler Cut special for $10 (ages 3 and under), so we always go on Tuesdays after MDO.)

Zoo - May 2014

We had a great Mother's Day trip to the Zoo!  I was so glad that my Mom (aka Gram T) could join us as well.  Bummed that I didn't snap any pics of her with the kids!  :(  But here's what I did get!

Conversations with Naomi - 5-7-14

I've decided that I have to start documenting some of my conversations with Naomi (and Olivia as they progress) because they've gotten quite cute - sometimes funny and sometimes they just bring a little happy tear to my eye.

This morning, while playing "nap" and calling them my babies...

Naomi:  Yeah, we're the baby birds and your the momma bird.  (This is a reference to my bird nest necklace that I've explained to Naomi before.)

Me:  That's right sweetie.  You know our little baby birds out front, they've grown up and flown away from the nest.  Someday you will grow up and fly away too.

Naomi:  You'll have to hold my hand when I fly Mommy.

Me:  You bet sweetie!  I will definitely hold your hand when you fly.

Naomi:  And Daddy too.

Me:  Of course, Daddy and I will both hold your hand when you fly.

And, cue happy little tear.  She doesn't have the perspective that I have or understand the symbolism of this conversation yet.  But that is my hope - that she lets me hold her hand a little as she learns to fly and that our nest is a warm, happy place to land when she flies off on her own.

I love you Naomi!

Easter Pictures

For Easter, our church had photographers all around the church to take family photos for us.  It was a great treat as it is a rarity for us to all be in a photo at once.  It was an extra special treat that my friend, Jennifer Sebby of Mountainpony Photography took the ones of just my little family - they turned out so well!

My Favorite!

Love Naomi's personality shining through on this one!

If you've never seen Olivia's serious look, here it is!
She's usually so happy, this really startles people.

It sure is nice getting to go to church with family.  Getting 7 people including 3 kids to take a solid photo (looking at the camera, eyes open, no obvious weirdness) is really difficult.  This one with all the kids mouths wide open was probably the best one!

So glad that my Mom and Stepdad joined us for Easter services!

2014 Bluebonnet Pictures

This is the first year that we have done Bluebonnet pictures with our kids.  Despite this being a massive Texas tradition, I just haven't had it in me to get the kids cutesy-d up and drag them out to a field for pictures until this year.  As it turns out, our new house is just around the corner from a massive (and very popular) hill of Bluebonnets.  It's been a fun little game to try to guess how many cars will be parked along the road as we come and go.  There were 32 cars parked on our way home from lunch today and talking to the neighbor, we found out that the cops actually had to shoo some people away last night.

Anyway, here are our pics - I didn't bother to really edit these though I will probably edit a couple to printout and hang.

Springtime means Park Time!

This is the first of what I'm sure will be numerous park picture posts.  :)  The girls love going to the park and I love that we have one close in our new neighborhood.  Although we sometimes meet friends at the park, these pics all happen to be when we were out solo - I'll have to remember to snag some photos with friends as Naomi is finally playing with other kids and it's so fun to watch.  The first two pics are from the "big park" (as Naomi calls it) near downtown Wylie.  The rest are from the park near our house.

What's cookin'?

A while back, I snagged matching aprons for me and the girls off of Zulily.  Naomi loves to help out in the kitchen and Olivia is definitely showing an interest.

So cute!
