Three Months Old

Stats? 10 lbs 8 oz {Go Baby!} and ? in (unofficial home measurement about a week late and I didn't try to measure her length)

How is she sleeping? She's doing okay. Most of the time she'll sleep in 3-4 hour stretches at night and we've occasionally gotten a 5 hour stretch. We just moved her to her crib in her room this weekend (at just over 3 months) and it seems to be going okay, but we'll see.  Yay! We've started working a bit on creating a bed time routine (Brian calls it the 3 B's - bath, boobies, bed) and have started to put her to bed about an hour or two before we do because that seemed to suit her natural rhythms better.  We're still working on nap times - she's a horrible napper and I just know she would be a happier baby if she would nap better.  At this point I get short naps no longer than 30 minutes and I'm pretty much settling for anyplace she'll sleep: her bed, her swing, her bouncer, and sometimes even on me.  Any tips (other than just keep trying)?

How is she eating? She's still a pretty good eater. She's still 100% breastfeeding so I really don't know how much she eats now. We got a break on the spit up, but then it started back up and now it seems we have a break again.  Things are always changing.

What new tricks does she do? Mostly this month she has been improving on recent skills and just getting a couple new ones.  She smiles even more, makes even more different cooing noises, has started batting at her toys, has started sucking on her hands, holds her head up pretty well, and can sorta sit up with support. I can already tell this transition from 3-4 months is going to be exciting, because there are things she just started doing this week that I'm working hard not to put in this belated update.  :)

Doctor Visit? Next one is at 4 months, so I'll update then.

General Observations?  The pics were more difficult to take this month as she's so much more active.  She still loves to be held and wants you to do everything with her (eat, sleep, play, sing silly songs, make funny noises, sit there). I find myself frequently saying that there must be something wrong with her because she's acting different/funky that day, but I've realized that she is just ever changing and I can't get to accustomed to anything.  We've tried to get Naomi to pet the kitties a couple of times; she's not too sure what to make of it and the kitties are still leery.  And lastly, I love that she smiles.  It has made a world of difference in how I feel about being a mom.  I hold on to that vision when she's wailing at the top of her lungs because she's overtired or I'm not feeding her fast enough.  I still have some rough spells of baby blues, but then she smiles and I forget all about it.

Until next month...

She is so precious!!! It is a lot more fun when they start smiling and following you around the room. When they start laughing, you can't get enough of it! Austin has a feeding routine, but not a nap routine. I think because he used to sleep between every feeding and has grown out of it slowly, so I never made him nap. I can tell when he is tired and just put him down then. Sometimes he takes several 10-15 min naps and other times he takes 1 or 2 long naps. Other moms have a nap routine. But I do the same as you, sometimes he naps in his crib, swing, pack 'n play, or on the floor if he falls asleep playing. Whatever works best for you. I have heard if they don't go down well in their crib at bed time, to have them take naps during the day in the crib so they are used to it. But Austin has always gone down without a problem. He sleeps 12 hours. Everyone is different and every baby is different. And they are constantly changing. So happy for y'all!
