Summer Fun - Outtakes

This is just a bunch of random, but fun shots that I took over the summer.
At this age, the everyday is sometimes where all the magic is at and I had to have it documented somewhere!

More dress up:
Big sister dressing little sister and Naomi's arabesque as a princess ballerina

Olivia at a birthday party (Naomi was in a weird mood and refused to go).

Love them!

Naomi had to take a picture - turned out pretty cute!

Giving check ups and singing in hula aprons!

Park time!

The girls found the decals that I was going to decorate Olivia's room with and decided to do it for me!  Needless to say they've become more of a toy than anything else and that's okay.  :)

More photo fun - practicing selfies (God help this generation of kiddos!) and taking pics.

These two on a Wednesday night after our Financial Peace University class!

Olivia - 2 Years Old!

 HAPPY 2nd BIRTHDAY OLIVIA!

Stats:
24lbs 10-25%
31.5 in 10-25%

Tricks:
It's hard to even keep up with this sort of thing anymore.  Talking up a storm!  Complete sentences and all... just blows my mind sometimes and I just forget that she is still only 2 because she talks so well.  She loves her swim class and is doing so well - a little fishy!  Loves her sister and I love watching them start really playing together.  So cute and sweet!

We kept things really low key for Olivia's birthday this year.  We got together with family to celebrate on various days.  I love these pics or her carrying her little Disney Store bag - she is a bit of a girly girl.  On her actual birthday, we went to the pool as a family.  One of Olivia's favorite things to do is swimming, so it was a great way to celebrate.

LOVE YOU OLIVIA!

We Love Carousels

The girls LOVE carousels! We ended up going to the one in Stonebriar Mall twice in one week.  The first time we went because I was returning something to a store there.  The second time, I had planned to take them to this Indoor Safari Park that I had a Groupon for, but it had closed down.  Naomi was so disappointed and the carousel was the first thing that came to my mind.  She suddenly rebounded quickly and we were off.  After 2 rides on the carousel, one cookie split amongst the three of us and a brief trip through the Disney Store (where I actually left without whipping out my wallet) and both girls were quite happy even though our day didn't turn out as planned.  :)  Oh and we might have stopped by the designer handbags section of Nordstrom's on the way out the door to play a little dress up.  :)

Emler Swim Lessons

The girls love their swim lessons and they are progressing into pretty good little swimmers.  I'll have to shoot some new videos toward the end of the fall/winter session to see their progress.

Michigan - American Airlines Flight Saga - Part 2

After our flight debacle on the way to Michigan, several people kept asking if we had called to complain yet.  We always replied that no, we still had a return flight which we felt confident would give AA another chance to mess up.  They did not disappoint!

Our early morning flight out of Marquette left on time with no hiccups.  We arrived in Chicago on time and sat on the tarmac for nearly an hour before pulling into the gate.  As we get off of the plane, we immediately start running for our gate to try to make our connection.  We hear the announcer make the final boarding call for our flight.  We are still in the wrong terminal.  We are running, pushing strollers, and I'm yelling, "Beep beep, coming through, 'scuse me!"

Did we miss our connection?

Of course we did!

The gate is closed, the gate attendant comes back through it and confirms that yes, the plane is pulling away from the gate.  We watch it leave.  Sigh....

We go over to the re-booking center (a bank of phones) and call for re-booking.  I take everyone to the bathroom and by the time I get back, Brian has us re-booked and every single phone, which was previously empty, has a disgruntled passanger attached to it and there are plenty of people waiting.

With the MANY flights between Chicago and Dallas each day, were we able to get a direct flight?

Of course not!

We boarded a plane to Northwest Arkansas to connect to our flight to Dallas.
We arrive in Northwest Arkansas on time, but what do you think we did?
Oh yes, we sat on the tarmac for 45 minutes waiting for the gate to clear.
Fortunately this is a very small regional airport and the gates are right next to each other, so we literally got right off of one plane, walked down two gates and got right back on the other plane.

We FINALLY make it home!

Now, the good question... where is our luggage?

Oh, it made our original connection (can I just laugh at how our luggage made the flight that we did not make?.  It is at another terminal.  They can call and have it transferred here - Great!  Oh, just kidding, the person from last shift with the key to the luggage locker took the key home so they are having to find another key.

At this point, we are just laughing... I mean, seriously, it is just comical how many flight issues we have had - it's like the scene out of some comedy movie that you think, "oh come on that would never happen", but it does.  :)

We took the shuttle out to our car in remote parking and swing back through the terminal to pick up luggage.

Hallelujah!

PS. The girls were troopers through it all yet again.  I could not have asked for better!  Thanks girls!

Also, for the record, we have complained to AA and in addition to the automatic award of additional airline miles that everyone on our first flight got, we also got some airline vouchers to use in the next year.  We tried to get baggage fees refunded for our flight out, but the finger pointing between AA and Delta seemed like more trouble than it was worth.

Whew!

Michigan - Fun with Family Part 3 - Cookout and Boating Fun

On our last day, we went back over to Bill and Alana's for one last cookout and a little ride out on the boat.  Once we got out there and dropped anchor and the girls saw Rita swimming, they wanted to go too.  We didn't have any swimsuits, so we stripped the girls down to their skivvies, put the life vests back on and they went for it!  FYI, a Michigan lake in the summer is still quite cold.

Naomi (shivering):  "It's cold!"
Us: "Yeah, sweetie.  Do you want to get out?"
Naomi:  "No.  I want to jump again."

Love it!

At one point, Olivia sorta falls off the back step of the boat and goes into the lake head first (with her life jacket on of course) and no problem, still all smiles.  Thanks to Rita for swimming with our girls!

They had so much fun and while I know they won't remember it years from now, we will.  :)

Once we were all dried off and back at the house, the girls curled up with Grandpa Ken for a look through the I Spy book.
